Roll out at 8:15 a.m. by carpool for Arroyo Grande. You can use this link to guide you to the parking area of Centennial Park, in Arroyo Grande, from where the ride will begin around 9:00 a.m.
This particular route we first did with the camp in 2016 and we resurrected it in 2023 during some rain contingency planning. Everyone has commented how much they love the route and wish we did it more often. So we’re bring it back again in 2026! Be sure to allow time to stop and take pictures of the dinosaurs.
After departure from Arroyo Grande, all routes will meander over to Huasna Road for an out and back with mild climbing on a quiet road and the dinosaur sightings. After returning back along Huasna, the main route will head on up and over for another out and back to Lake Lopez before coming back into Arroyo Grande along Corbett Canyon Road. We will aim to locate a SAG location for Shawn on the return along Huasna before the main and long routes continue on School Road so as to provide a convenient SAG option for all three routes.
The shorter option will be simply the out and back along Huasna.
The longer option will continue after Lake Lopez for a further out and back along Hi Mountain Road before then returning back the same way as the main route.
An option for a post ride lunch is to have a change of clothes in your car and explore some places in Arroyo Grande or drive on over to Avila Beach. The Avila Beach downtown promenade is a beautiful setting with the majestic Pacific as the backdrop. Oftentimes they have live music, great food from local restaurants, Central Coast wine tasting, and fun for everyone right on the Promenade. Steps from the Promenade is Peloton Cellars, a bike themed wine shop and tasting room. They have a great selection of bike themed clothes and gifts.
Here is a RidewithGPS overlay option of today’s routes – check the box for “Show all on map” to see all three routes together.
