For most years of the Gran Fundo, we have begun the camp with some variant of this ride, because it is the favorite of nearly everyone and features magnificent Peachy Canyon and the joys of cycling the back roads and rolling terrain to the west of Paso Robles. These roads climb up the passes and through the oak trees for which the town is named. We have noted, however, that a sizeable number of us don’t arrive at the camp until Saturday afternoon and thus always miss this ride. And so, to solve that problem and give everyone the opportunity to experience the lonesome beauty of these roads, we have again pushed the Chimney-Peachy ride to Sunday. This year we will do this route counterclockwise.
We are offering two optional routes today—one that is a bit shorter by omitting Klau Mine Road, and one that is a bit longer by including an extension on Vineyard. Feel free to choose the one you prefer.
For all routes, there will be just one SAG stop, and it will be located near the intersection of Adelaida Road and Vineyard, not far from the Halter Ranch Vineyard. This location is at approximately Mile 24 for the Main and Longer routes and Mile 16 for the Shorter route.
